Do you only repair/convert for EPA certified systems? Or do you convert anything... since it is legal in Utah.

Last time I checked Utah was still one of the United States and under EPA jurisdiction.

      [aka "EPA Certified" conversion system]

      http://www.epa.gov/oms/consumer/fuel...s/altfuels.htm

Some states such as Texas make it clear that they aren't going to tolerate the selling of vehicles which have had their emission systems tampered with, including as pertaining to alternative fuel conversions:

Others, such as Utah turn a blind eye and even provide incentives for conversion of anything with wheels to natural gas. But this doesn't make it legal. And we don't promote it here.

Sorry John didnt mean to open this can of worms again... for the record there are some really good kits out there that are not "poorly designed" so the emissions are cleaner on CNG than on gasoline (not to mention they dont have to block out the OBD error codes). A few years ago there were a bunch of bad kit suppliers and installers that poisoned the well, and resulted in the EPA producing such language.

just to be clear, the above mentioned does not say that a non epa conversion is illegal, it says it is a "potential" violation

ill be the first person to recognize the site owners authority to allow what is and is not discussed but the word "potential" means just that

also if i recall correctly that vehicles outside of useful life can be converted legally without a epa certified label as long as certain conditions are met.

all of that doesnt change the fact that john is the boss and what he says goes, my only advise is to tread lightly on this subject anyone looking to do something to their vehicle takes the responsibility into their own hands...be safe

Lancer Automotive Group follows federal law, we will not install or repair an uncertified system. For us to obtain the needed liability, garage keepers and recall insurance coverage and maintain factory warranty's we follow the guidelines established by the EPA. We will remove uncertified systems which we seem to do way to often.

That is very honarable for Lancer to follow federal law... however, the problem lies within your interpretation of that law. As long as it is installed according to NFPA 52 (CSA) and still passes emissions tests, then youre all good. Not sure why you'd remove a safe system that has perfect fuel trims and causes no damage to the catalytic converters. (I agree that there are many in Utah that don't do this, but not ALL are violators.)
