  • What is the Clean Cities Coalition Program.

The Clean Cities program was created in 1992 by the U.S. Dept of Energy in response to the Energy Policy Act of 1992 (Public Law 102-4860) passed by Congress on October 24, 1992.

Clean Cities is a locally based, voluntary, government/industry partnership working to expand the use of alternatives to gasoline and diesel fuel, accelerate the deployment of alternative fuel vehicles (AFV's) and build a local AFV refueling infrastructure.

    History:
1992-Atlanta was the first Coalition to be designated by the U.S. DOE on Sept 8, 1993.

1999-Clean Cities celebrates five years of success at the 5th National Clean Cities Conference and Exposition in Louisville, KY.

2000-Truckee Meadows Coalition (Reno, Nv) designated on June 28, 2000 was the 79th Coalition to join the program. Over the previous 8 years, the program grew to more than 3,700 stakeholders who helped deploy more than 160,000 AFV's and who had built nearly 5,000 alternative fuel stations.

2008-Curtis Martin becomes Co-Cordinator for the Antelope Valley, Ca. along with Bret Banks, of the Antelope Valley AQMD.

CNGChat developes tools to assist the Coalition with the advancement of their mission.

The 15th Clean Cities National Conference takes place in Big Sky Montana, and Curtis will be there to bring back the inside scoop on what's happening in the world of alternative fuels.

Because CCC is not focused solely on CNG, discussions on any alternative fuel is engouraged in this area of the forum.

There is a huge reawakening to cng as a motor vehicle fuel, with the CNG NOW, Pickens Plan, and major alt fuels legislation catching the public and private sectors attention, this section of the forum is to help them help us.

This section of cngchat is to allow you, the public, direct access to CC Coordinators around the country. Coordinators are encouraged to place links to their website, post for public consumption requests for new stakeholders, programs, info that you would like site members to assist you with... whatever helps you, helps us, and we're eager to assist.

Members of cngchat are encouraged to join their local Clean Cities Coalition to show support for their mission, to get us off of foreign oil!
