  • LPG compression ratio

does anyone know the compression ratio for the Ford LPG vehicles either the 4.6 or 5.4's. Trying to figure out what my minimum CR is for LPG and maximum

I wouldn't go over10.5:1 maybe 11 if you can adjust the timing (which you can.t with out some difficulty on those engines) figuring 105 octane. If bi-fuel stay with the factory gasoline CR. Low end doesn't matter. If it will run on gasoline it will run on LP.

Larry what do you think about propane on a 12:1 CNG engine?

low end wont mater if you are just riding around I have run 12.1 but I dont think it would be a good idea if you are working the motor hard ie pulling a heavy trailer

Be careful about detonation or pre-ignition -- listen carefully. The shape of the combustion chamber, piston dome, etc can also have an effect. I would have to consult with my resident expert, Don Bass, if I could find him. Don use to build racing engines for LP use on the Baja 1000, and was the first employee at Impco.
Cowboy is right about the heavy loads. To be effective I would prefer and engine on which you could ignition timing
